Wine & Roses Weigela?

Question:I purchased two of these from an out of state nursery and planted them in a new yard. They are now droopy and dull looking. Are they just in shock from being transplanted? Any advice on how I can get them to survive until next spring... I think once they are established they will do fine... i just need some advice on how to get them established.

Answers:
Go to your lawn & garden center & get root stimulator & vitamin B-1 (for transplant shock). Follow the directions on the bottles. You will need to do this quickly, before any more damage is done. If they are in full sun you might want to give them a little shade for a while (until they recover). Make sure they are well watered.

Depending on where you are, this could be a tough time to install plants (hot & dry). At the nursery where they were grown, they were probably watered every day. Make sure they get plenty of water. If it were me, I would water every day for the first 10 days, then go to every other day for a couple of weeks. You will not get significant root growth until you are also seeing some new leaves emerge. Make sure plants are well mulched. Also try using a potting soil with some type of water retention material that releases moisture as soil dries.

Good luck.
