Question:on a holiday, when there is a great demand for flowers, their prices usually go up. is it fair for flower sellers to raise their prices like this?? and why???
Answers:
It's the economic law of supply and demand. You are just as free to search for the lowest price available as they are to charge whatever they think the market will bear. It's called the free enterprise system.
it is fair because it is their business and they can do whatever they want. it is not right to do to the consumer but we live in a democracy where the government does not control our society. this allows us to sell our products for our own prices as long as the people can legally take their business elsewhere. otherwise it becomes a monopoly and that is not fair.
Everyone else does it! Why not the flower sellers too? Sorry no answer as to why, greed maybe.
no its not fair but they do becasue they know u need them so u dont have a choice unless u grow ur own
Yes, because people want to buy them, then they won't care about the price because they want to get them so bad. This is a regular sales technique, why would you lower the price for something that getting a ton of sales, if the demand is high, raise the price and make more money
Supply and demand. People who grow the flowers have to grow even MORE for holiday weekends, and when you have that many, it is more costly to the farmer if the crop is to fail. Therefore, they must raise the price to still make a profit.
Then, the flower shop has to pay more to make a profit, since they had to pay more. Also, when flowershops are extremely busy the week before the holiday, they need to be paid more for the extra work they put into it.
It's the simple rule of supply and demand. It's fair for the business and economy but not for consumers I guess since we're the ones coughing up the dough. : )
Yes, because its simple economics my friend. How do you expect a florist to stay open year round? Do you really go to a florist to get flowers for someone on Christmas? How about Easter? Do you get your father flowers for his birthday or Father's Day?
They gouge the crud out of you so they can pay rent for the rest of the year my friend.
Yes it is fair bc since more people want flowers and there is only so much to go around there is supply and damand
I don't think so but it supply and demand. If they have something you need and you want it, they can charge whatever they want. It doesn't mean you have to pay the price but these days you get what you pay for.
Yes It's all about the$
I would have to say it is fair for them to do this and I say this because their "selling season" is generally short lived and this is how these people make the majority of their living. We have a guy here in this state who has about 15 if not more very large greenhouses. People come from 2 if not 3 different states to buy his flowers and trees. He is generally only opened for the most, 2 months out of the whole year. So this guy is working pretty darn hard I would say, in preparing for just those 2 months. But in my opinion, he is very fair on his prices and has the biggest choices I have every seen at any Nursery or greenhouse.
Just like some ice cream parlors are only open in the summer months, they try to earn for the whole year in just about 5 months.
Whats the neighbors garden for ? ;)
It's called supply and demand. The more demand there is, the less the supply therefore, prices on the remaining supply go to the higher (not highest) bidder. If you had the last gallon of water on the planet, and nobody shot you for it, how would you decide who to sell it to?
