What can you do to help your ivy to spread?
Question:I planted some ivy under a pine tree hoping that it would cover the ground under the tree. It is still alive, but doesn't seem to be spreading at the rapid pace that everyone told me that it would. Is there something that I can do to help this along? It's been in the ground for about 3 weeks now.
Answers:
A light fertilizer can help a little, but instead of 3 weeks, it takes 3 years for it to really take affect. For ivy, they say the first year it survives, the second year it creeps, the third year it runs. Patience is the best answer, although it may not be the one you want. We are getting used to instant everything. It's not always that way with nature.
Feed it! Miracle Grow every 2 weeks through out the summer and you'll have it climbing the walls...or the tree in this case.
first year it sleeps-second year it creeps-third year it leaps
