Is there any way to stop dog urine spots in my lawn?
Question:

IF IT IS YOUR DOG RESTRICT THE POTTY AREA. KEEP THE DOG INSIDE AND WALK IT TO THE POTTY AREA. IF IT IS OTHER PEOPLES' DOGS, COMPLAIN TO THE OWNERS. IF IT DOES NOT WORK, CALL THE POLICE
i heard adding tomato juice to their food will help
the only thing I know of is to rinse the spot where your dog has urinated with hot water
good luck
fence the yard
No. They haven't come with a way to stop it from raining, I doubt you can stop animals from entering your yard unless you get a sturdy fence built or don't have animals yourself.
I don't know if there is any truth to this, but the spots stopped for me after my dog was spade (female). Don't know if there is something to that or just coincidence. My neighbor has a newish female puppy, he has spots all over his lawn.
fill a container half way with water and throw it on your lawn.
for some reason dogs see the chimmer and won't go on your lawn
It's only bitches pee that does it (hormones or something) and if you mix a teaspoon of tomato ketchup in with her food the spots should stop forming.
Alternatively, you can follow her around with a bucket of water to dilute the pee!
no. that really stinks for you
Build a fence to keep the dogs out.
We had a male Sheltie for 10 years and never had spots in our lawn.
sprinkle garden gypsum on the affected areas and water it in. this offsets the (nitrogen) salts in the urine and normalizes the conditions in the soil.
Would a "curb your dog" sign help, or are they free-range doggies?
Urine is alkaline, not acidic, plus it has a lot of salts. That's why it kills the grass. You can try overwatering that spot to dilute fresh urine, but once the grass is dead, it's gone. You'll have to remove the dead grass, add some compost, and plant new grass.
If you think it's people letting their dogs loose in the morning or evening, try putting your sprinklers on a timer. The dogs won't come on the lawn then. Don't water when the sun is hot or the grass will get burned by the sun.

I've heard there are tablets you can give your dogs to change the ph of their urine, but that this can compromise their health, and can cause kidney stones. You can also overseed your lawn with white dutch clover, which won't brown from the urine. Check out this site for info on growing a clover lawn:

Goodluck!
to Dingo and DoH, I have two males who are neutered, they pee on the same spots and the grass dies.
I usually just put more grass seed and prevent them from going to that particular spot again as well as fencing them from the grass.
I have cement everywhere else and they go there.
