Planting tomatoes from seed in upstate NY - Too late?

Question:I just received as a gift a beefsteak tomato-starting set with seeds. I am in the Hudson Valley. The seedlings I planted last month are already bearing fruit. Is it too late to start these beefsteaks from seed? Is there any way that I can plant these and successfully have htem bear fruit? Or should I give up and wait until next year?

Answers:
You could try growing them inside. But you will probably need a grow light. Tomatoes like it hot and humid. They may not do well in an air conditioned home. It is not to late to put them outside. But they will not have enough time to set fruit by the end of summer. Most tomatoes take from 45 to 80 days to grow. If you put them out you will either have to cover them when the weather gets cold or bring them inside. I think your best bet would be to wait till next year. Then start them in February in seed starting soil inside. Check out these websites below. They might help. Good luck!

sew them indoors, then wait for spring then replant or just keep in the same big pot. (atleast a 2 gallon pot)
