How do you keep strawberries fresh?

Question:I just bought fresh strawberries from a farmers market...how can i keep them fresh? I hate how they get old and shrively within a day or two.

Answers:
put them in the fridge

Put them in a large bowl, cover them in clingfilm and put them in the fridge :-) mmmm, wish I was round yours for tea tonight!
Don't wash them till you are about to eat them...washing them speeds up them going mouldy!
Dont ask me ive just put mine in the bin.
Cut them, and cover them with lemon juice then into the fridge
They should last a little longer if you put them in the fridge. Take them about a couple of mins before using them to help with flavour.
when you first get your berries home, wash them, pick out any that are discolored or bruised and discard...leave them stems on them...then layer them between paper towels and refrigerate...use with in a week...then when ready to use, remove the stems and prepare the way you would like..
the only way is to keep them refrigerated. if you can, put them in a container so that they're not on top of each other.
This will stop them bruising.
They are a type of fruit that will go off very fast whatever you do so they are best if eaten as soon as possible. One thing you should do is remove damaged or discoloured ones from the bunch straight away as those are the ones most likely to mould first and spread the mould to the others. Do not wash them as this will speed up mould growing on them.

Remember the idea of fresh fruit is to eat it while it's fresh. Keeping strawberries fresh is extremely hard without adding preservatives which defeats the purpose and impairs the taste.

Keep them away from moisture and heat and they should be good to eat upto 24 hours later.
When you get them home, check them over for bruising, mold, etc. Do not wash them at this point as it will just encourage mold growth. Get rid of any moldy ones and if the bruised ones aren't too bad, eat them immediately.

Store them in the refrigerator in a bowl lined with a cloth or paper towel where air can circulate freely. Take out only as many as you're going to use, wash them, and use them promptly.
put them in a covered bowl and place them in the fridge. they should be ok for a few days.
