The local Council Offices should have a list of approved tree fellers and surgeons - you can contact all and ask for a quote. Best to have someone from the approved list because you can be sure that they carry insurance should the falling tree cause damage.
I know were theres two but not t ree by jeabuz.
if it's a birch tree you could use the bark to make a canoe, could be useful in your neck of the woods
If you want to keep the tree, say if it is producing apples or something.. You can fill the void in the tree with concrete for stability wilst the tree continues to produce. Make sure and line the inside with 3mil plastic, so the chemicals from the cement don't kill the tree anymore.
He's under the old oak tree that he just felled!
Try looking in your local Yellow Pages.
