I have a major Nettle problem in my garden how do I get rid of the damn things for good?

Question:HELP!

Answers:
Hi, nettles only grow in good fertile soil, so that is a good sign of quality soil.

Pull out as much root as you can and continue to use a hoe to stop them when they grow. Or learn to love them! They are there naturally after all!

I wouldn't use chemicals.

Nettles attract butterflies! Catarpillars love them, and nettles hav a nice yellow flower.

chemicals can work but i would say you need a commercial killer like Grazon 90 - you'd need a farm holders number to sign for it but be aware, its leathal.

Better methods would be regular strimming, burning and pulling

These are a gradual process when the nettles get weaker as they continually try to grow again. Strim once they get to 150mm high, or pull them out when they are 450 mm high, or burn them with a lance when they are just shooting.

If you pull them out, do it gentle so you get as much root as possible. Don't let them get as far as flowering.

Either way, its a gradual process that can take a couple of years to irradiate the roots.
Hi
Dig up the roots, just think of the exercise, don't use poison it harms the wildlife and after all it's really their garden you just took over.
Ray. West York's. U.K.
Sodium chlorate weed killer. But nothing at all will grow for a year in the same spot.
You could eat them. They make a nice soup, like spinach. Otherwise dig them up, but wear long sleeves & gloves to protect your self. Best to dig before they go into seed, otherwise the seeds will drop into the ground your digging and you'll have a bumper crop next year.
Sounds like you need Glyphosate! There are lots of brand names available but Roundup is the most common.
