How much water should bamboo stalks get?

Question:Is it better to plant the stalks, sit them in water and how often should I change the water? My stalks are now in water and they seem to be losing thier tight and hardness. They are not turning yellow but they are getting a little soft.

Please help!

Answers:
You should change the water once per week and you have to wash also the stones (if you have in the pot). But I had the same problem. They were turning yellow after a while. The problem is the water itself. You should use plain water, from a bottle. The sink water has usually a high concentration of limestone. I am using only plain water for 2 years now and I don't have any problem anymore.

Yes, if it is not doing well in water you can replant them in dirt like you would a regular house plant.
