I have a lemon tree 1m high. it will be kept in a conservatory. How do I look after it. Watering, etc?
Question:The tree has one big lemon and many set flowers. It is in a sunny conservatory.
Answers:
Keep your lemon tree where it will get as much reflected heat as possible. Against a south-facing wall for example.
Be consistent with your watering. Do not let the soil dry out or get soggy.
Keep the nitrogen coming -- citrus demands a fairly large amount each year. Lemon particularly likes foliar feeding (spraying the leaves with a liquid fertilizer).
Lemon trees are particularly sensitive to freezes. Cover the tree if it will be below freezing inside your conservatory.
Good Luck!!
Like many citrus trees, lemon trees are big water drinkers, and they must not be allowed to go dry for a long period of time or they will lose their leaves. It might be useful to put your tree in an extra large self-watering pot, or use a self-watering tubular system to ensure that the tree doesn't go dry. Use a citrus fertilizer, and keep the tree from freezing. Prune when necessary to keep it fitting in the space available. Treated right, you will get plenty of fruit from this tree.
keep it well watered, good drainage stones or pebbles under pot to stop it getting wet feet, feed 3 times a year with citrus food, prune to a nice round shape, any insect problems spray with white oil and a small amount of pyrethem.good luck.byeeeeeeeee
