My patio tomatos are red. Are they ready?
Question:2 days ago they were green. Yesterday they were orange. Today they are red. Are they ready yet or do you let them sit for awhile once they've turned red?
Answers:
Remove them from the vine, or they'll begin to rot soon. They don't have to be eaten right away (although they can be), and will ripen on your countertop.
If they're red, they're ready!
Sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

:-) Let them stay on the vine one more day then pick them and set them in the shade at room temp in your house at least for 2 hours then there ready but dont put them in the fridge until you slice them.Believe there is nothing like homegrown tomatoes especially when you grow them right. :-)
enjoy them now!
yup, you can take them off and put them on a windowsill to ripen even more.
I'd say it depends on how ripe you like your tomatoes. Take one off of the vine and eat it. I personally don't like tomatoes that are really soft, I prefer them nice and firm. I pull mine off as soon as they turn red and put them in the fridge so they don't ripen even more. It's just a matter of personal preference.
IF YOU LIKE THEN FIRM, THERE READY
No i'd say wait till they are black then decide if you should eat them,..egads..
Let them sit a few days more and give them a gentle squeeze every now and then. You want them to be firm, but not hard.
I would guess so.
