Environmentally and kid and pet friendly lawn insect killer?

Question:Someone told me you could use a mixture of vinegar and salt or something to make an insect killer for your lawn that was safe for kids and pets. Does anyone know the "recipe" or the quantities of vinegar and salt you use?

Answers:
If you use vinegar and salt, it will also kill your lawn/plants.DO NOT DO THAT. Vinegar is used to kill weeds and will kill your other plants and grass, it is not prejudice. Get a quart container and fill with water and add two tablespoons of garlic powder..do not use garlic salt! Boil it for about 3 minutes and then strain into a sprayer bottle through a coffee filter to take out any garlic clumps that could clog the sprayer. Add one half teaspoon of lemon dish liquid. Spray away! You will see bugs jumping everywhere to get away! I would treat again with it when it rains and washes away it's effectiveness.

Vinegar and salt won't kill your bugs, it will kill your lawn! You can use things such as citronella, mint and lemongrass sprays or plants in your yard to help control the bugs. You can also look for environmentaly friendly lawn-suppliers that make products for bug control that won't harm your children or your pets. (Ask at your local hardware store, a clerk will be able to direct you.)
