Cleaning out old ditch or branch?

Question:I have an old ditch going through my field that joins a creek. It is stopped up with trees, logs and other debris. Part of it is filled in with dirt from loggers and I want to clean it out. How do I determine how deep to dig this ditch. One section of it is about 3 foot deep and I don't know what would happen if I went deeper than the creek.

Answers:
don't go deeper than the creek
that is unless you want to create a pond for wildlife or whatever
"think about mosquitoes"
just cut up and remove the stuff blocking your ditch
a nice bonfire will get rid of natural Debee

p.s. clean out, place rubble in a safe location before any fire

It should have a gravel bed, take shallow scrapings until you find it.

anything is beter than nothing so you might choose to stop at the 3 ft because its a big improvement on whats there today.

work your way upstream
