How do I kill poisen Ivy?
Question:There is poisen Ivy in the yard! I have used weed killer but that is not working. Does anyone know of any good products to kill poisen ivy and weeds too? We have a bunch of weeds all over and im tired of pulling them out with my bare hands.
Answers:
Home Depot and Lowes carry poison ivy spray killer, try there, good luck.
A salt water brine solution poured on the roots will kill the poison ivy. Just be sure there are no plants that you want to keep in the immediate area. It may take several applications to get the job done.
Tractor Supply Co. has a weed killer product that they guarantee will kill weeds but will not harm your grass or flowers. I'd recommend using that.
One of the best products to eliminate broad-leaved weeds, brush, vines and trees is the active ingredient called; "TRICLOPYR". It can be found in several products such as "Brush-B-Gone" or "Brush Killer".
Triclopyr performs better than Roundup on hard-to-kill species and it is a selective herbicide that can be used safely on lawns. Simply follow the mixing instructions and spray the entire plant...such as the poison ivy.
I'd recommend putting in a couple of tablespoons of dishsoap AFTER mixing this product with water. The dishsoap helps make the triclopyr adhere to the leaves and stems better, therefore allowing more product to enter into the plant.
You should begin to see a decline in the plant's health within 7 days after spraying. I would advise spraying it in the morning (before it gets too warm) and avoid spraying near ornamental plants/trees.
GOOD LUCK!
