Answers:
I am so depressed with the weather I have drunk all the beer I bought for the slugs, and have nearly fell into the water feature and drowned. I think that stuff you put down to keep slugs at bay is being washed away by the rain. theres millions of the sodding things. I don't care any more.
Yes it is raining them where I live.
slug pellets or bran flakes will do the trick
Yes - due to the wet weather - but on the positive side there are very few flies ( which living ion a smallholding we usually have plague's of them this time of year) and wasps etc as they like the sun and hotter weather - so I suppose we can not have it both ways
Yes they thrive in moist damp conditions, which produces abundant lush growth for them to eat too!
There are wildlife friendly slug pellets now available, safe for pets, wildlife etc.
I also use nematodes, which naturally occur in your garden, which attack them, leading to them burrowing down and dieing.
They don't need a mate to produce eggs either, as they are hermaphrodite, so a solitary well fed slug can breeds hundreds through a season, including offspring of offspring.
Can of beer in plastic pot, with the top open, they drink the contents and die .
