Does anyone have experience with crusher run?

Question:I am filling in an area to make a patio behind my house. One landscaper recommended I fill the area with “crusher run” stones stating it will pack down securely and is fine enough to put a picnic table and chairs on.

Does anyone have experience with crusher run? Do you have any other idea of filler for an area 20’ x 30’? The perimeter is a stone wall foundation from an old barn.
