I nEAD HELP WITH A POND, IT'S ALL GREEN.?

Question:ok, i got a pond about a month ago and now it's all green and covered with algae. And i have fish in it. How can i clean it up and make the water clear again without killing the fish or all of the algae.

Answers:
You are having a spring "algae bloom". You need to create an ecosystem for your pond. Don't panic; it's easy. Fish, plants, shade, bacteria. Maybe an aerator, if you don't have one.
1. Cheap goldfish eat algae. The "filamentous" stringy algae is not as bad as the floating microscopic algae; the latter is what makes your water green and murky.
2. Plants: Water lilies. Water hyacinth (these are illegal in some states as they are invasive). Any plant from a pond store.
3. Your pond needs shade for half of the day. Algae hate shade.
4. I use "Microbe-Lift" in my pond. It is beneficial bacteria that help prevent algae. Just pour it in weekly. It establishes itself.
5. What's an aerator? A pump that runs a waterfall or a small sprayer.
Your pond needs all of the above to take care of itself. Good luck!

Real easy. Get yourself some horticultural cornmeal. Depending on how large the pond is, you can either just scatter the cornmeal on the pond, or it if is a fairly small pond, put the cornmeal in a porous bag like netting, put it in there till the water clears up, and then take it out. Neither method will hurt your fish.
Relax! Apparently, you have no shade on the surface. Get to a pond supply store, NOT HOME DEPOT, and ask what to do. You will kill all of the algae. It's not necessary.
algae grows from to much sun and little circulation. Make sure you have a pump, or filter that is giving your water some movement. The more the movement, the less the algae.
