What is the proper height to set your cutting blades when cutting grass?

Question:I want to know what is the best height to set your blades to cut your grass at, not the best height at which to cut grass.

Answers:
Every mower is different so nobody can give you the answer you are looking for. Set the blade height so that your grass is being cut 2 1/2 to 3 inches in the summer for the reasons given above.

in the summer you want to cut your grass high (2-3") this gives maximum roots and provides shade for the soil, so it does not dry out.

Cut your grass really low in the winter (1") This will pull up a lot of thatch, and help rejuvinate the roots.
Three inches summer, 21/2inches spring and fall.
I guess the first two didnt listen.I would make sure that whatever I adjusted to was not going to scrub the ground anywhere in your yard, like if you had a hill or something. The height setting is going to differ on every lawn mower, so it is really impossible for me to tell which setting to put your deck level.
depending your area, type of lawn and equipment:
* San Augustine 3-3.5"
* Bermuda 1.75" - 2.25"
* Others? no clue
