How did I make my 800 gallon 7' x 7' pond look more natural? Some of my tips may help you.
1. Add a waterfall or a sprayer. This will not only sound soothing, it will help keep the water oxygenated. Please e-mail me if you want tips on how to do this; I don't want to overwhelm you.
2. Clear a large area around your pond. Dig up all the grass. Make a curved walkway with stepping stones. Add a stone bench.
3. Does your "flower bed" include plants with graceful, sweeping lines like ornamental grasses, iris, and daylilies? These can make a pond look less contrived.
4. You don't mention how deep your pond is. I upended 2 milk crates and put a flat natural stone on them. This just barely shows above the water.
5. You will have fewer problems with algae if you add pond plants such as water lilies and water hyacinth. Algae does not like shade. Ideally about 50% of your pond surface should be covered by water plants.
I searched for images of "backyard ponds" on Yahoo Images for many of my ideas. Be patient! Work slowly and soon your pond will look like it has always been there.

You need some fish,lily pads,frogs,...
