Deer-resistant replacement for burning bush euonymous?

Question:Looking for a hardy bush with similar size/shape and interesting color to replace ones being devoured by deer

Answers:
I live in a rural area and have planted barberry hedge. They are deer resistant, drought resistant, and are a beautiful deep burgundy and get berries on them in the fall. Here are some links with information:

box bushes they have thorns and deer will not bother them as bad
Just be careful with the barberry -- it can be invasive. Boxwood is an evergreen that deer do not like, also native viburnums, although they can be eaten, come back twice as lush. Just come to the realization that deer will eat ANYTHING at any given time and you will feel better. You can spray your shrubs with deer repellents, such as Garlic spray, deer off, hot pepper spray or Bobbex (nasty stuff), but rotate what you spray. Deer will get accustomed to the individual sprays if not varied regularly - you will be surprised at how many mexican deer really love the hot pepper spray. Unfortunately the deer problem will only get worse, because the only natural predator of deer is automobiles. Last resort? Fencing around your property.
