Callistemon Bottlebrush Evergreen plant?
Question:I have just had a Callistemon Bottlebrush Evergreen plant delivered has it been tied up to keep it saft during delivery or shall I leave it tied until it is a little bit bigger, it is 3 foot at the moment but quite skinny still.
Answers:
Once you have unpacked and remove all the ties give it a good watering before planting in your chosen position preferably against a sunny wall. We have one which is in full bloom and looking quite spectacular despite the fact that it is left out over winter during the frosts. Remember, it requires lime-free soil which is well drained.
I bought one locally recently and it doesn't need support, just plant and enjoy.
Don't keep it tied up that's only to keep it steady while it was in transit. An easy shrub to grow, make sure it's planted in free-draining soil and in a sunny position. You can keep it in a pot if you like, it won't mind as long as it's repotted each year as it gets bigger.
