Why do so many people neglect their lawns?
Question:I take pride in my lawn and maybe I am overly obsessed but so many neighbors neglect theirs. For example, the neighbor across the street let their very expensive sod go to weeds in a matter of a couple years. Its not really that hard to have a nice lawn and it also ups your property value too!
Answers:
Well agree with u & would like to add that it always steps up the beauty of your house alongwith the boost in the property value as u already mentioned. So it is quite pretty to have a green & beautiful lawn in front of your house, office, etc.
Have a nice time.
lazy
because its manual labor and many people (including me) are lazy.
id say cause they are lazy
the word; LAZINESS!
because it is outside, let nature take its course i guess, i dont like weeds but i dont see why you have to cut the grass every week..
yeah, but some people are just plain lazy. loll
Lucky you. We are in drought. Our licence plates used to read "The Garden State". They have banned watering of lawns at any time. And still our water levels drop. No global warming here, noooo, it's surely a myth.
maybe they have lives outside of taking care of their lawn. your hobby is your grass their hobby is obviously something else. if your so concerned about it off to take care of thier lawn for some money. see now youve started a business and are contributing to the economy
not everyone has the ti;me to spend all day and fix their lawn. sorry most people have jobs, or a Life for that matter, you might want to go out and meet some people, or even better have a BBQ and bring the people to your precious lawn!
because most people work 40 plus hours a week and when they do get home after showers, dinner, running the kids here and there, and everything else that needs to be done who feels like mowing the grass? Who cares what your neighbor does, it's none of your business if they want to let their lawn grow. Be a good neighbor and mow it for them if you're so concerned about it.
Some poople are lazy. I hate when they don't mow their lawns. Makes me want to drench their lawns in gas and flick matches!
one man's weeds are another's flowers. i don't primp my lawn because i happen to like the natural look over finely manicured. i don't mean neglected, but not overdone either. i like natural looks any day
Have some compassion. Maybe these people are sick, aged, or on hard times.
If you are really "overly obsessed" with lawns, maybe you could adopt the lawn that bothers you the most and fix it up!
i'm kind of obsessive about my yard too. A couple of my neighbors don't mow nearly enough. My yard was in bad shape when i moved in, but it's getting there.
I work 60 hours a week, work out everyday, go out clubbing atleast 3 nights a week; but still have time to do my yard.
I had a nice farmhouse in the country. When I was young, married and fit (and financially stable) we kept it it nicely like you keep yours.
But to my surprise, time passed and the world turned. 25 years later I was disabled, divorced, middle-aged and had a very low income. I had neither the health to keep the lawn cared for myself, or the money to pay to have it done. Eventually I sold my home because I couldn't take care of it.
So don't judge quickly. There are many elderly people, single mothers, disabled people who love their homes and want to stay in them, but can't care for them as they'd like to.
There are also people with different priorities. Maybe your neighbors are volunteering their time at a soup kitchen, or the Red Cross, or leading a Boy Scout troop, rather than put the time and expense into caring for their lawn. We each contribute in our own way.
Thanks for giving me the chance to speak my mind on a subject that has been bothering me for a long time.
Although we take pride in our lawns, it is time consuming and often very expensive to deal with. In this day and age, lawns are not the first thing on people's minds.
It is pure laziness. I am with you, I care about my home's appearance and I mow about three times every two weeks. It doesn't take that long, maybe thirty minutes for the front and back and I do the occasional fertilizer when it is looking sad. People say that they have other pririties, but how is there house going to sell or their neighbors when their yard looks so bad? Seriously if people are too lazy to take care of their lawn they should A move to a condo or B pay some neighbor hood kid ten bucks to mow it. It sounds like you know what you are doing you should offer your services, and make a few extra bucks.
Lazy.Call Code Enforcement on them. If it gets too long you'll get rodents and other yucky unwanted animals. Only a moron would suggest you mow it for them...an unkempt yard is the whole neighborhood's business. If someone can't take the pains of lawn upkeep..they should sell and get an apartment where they won't have to be bothered.
I really don't care about my lawn, sure I want it to be green and at least mostly grass, I plant some flowers every year and try to keep it mowed and trimmed but I certainly don't stress out about it. I have more important things to do with my time.
