By the way the same holds for planting 2 different kinds of chile together. Even if there is cross pollination there will be no affect on the first generation of fruit. Say you plant a habanero next to an anahiem, the habanero won't make the anahiem hotter, the genetic makeup of the fruit is purely that of the parent(anahiem) plant. Let the fruit mature, plant the seed, and that's a second generation with a mixed genetics and you might very well get some that are hotter than the seed parent plant.
