How can i get my grass to grow on a soakaway?

Question:the soakaway in my garden.drys out completely in the summer months and you can see the out line of the soakaway and the grass is dead where the soakaway is .. and even when the grass does grow you can still see the outline as the grass is trying to grow.

Any help pls

Answers:
I think you need to lift the grass and soil and install a membrain above the soakaway material. This will retain moisture above it, but the soakaway still works.
It will still need watering, dependent on how deep the soil is.

British? Aussie? Kiwi? Translated to N. American , "soakaway"= a man-made dry creek bed? Why have grass there at all? Go with stone . Put down landsxape fabric first, to keep the weeds , & mud from infiltrating the stone . Could try a different grass .Zoysia? Or try a short-grass prarie grass,(drought-tolerant) such as Sheep Fescue (Festuca ovina)Other than that , water, water, water it!
