How do I divide a salvia (zone 5)?

Question:

Answers:
depends on what kind of salvia, as well as what the plant looks like. are there multiple stems leaving the ground? if so, you need to dig down between the stems and take up as much root as possible. as you replant it , you should give it a cut back on top, as the roots wont be plentiful enough at the beginning to maintain the entire plant.
if the salvia was just purchased and in a container, remove it from the pot and lay it on its side, and cut through it that way.
replant the salvia using a root stimulator or a superthrive type product.
if there is only one stem coming out of the ground, you will not be able to split it.

If it's the annual, don't waste your time. It'll be dead before it gets itself re-established.
