What fertilizer to use on grapes?

Question:

Answers:
You have to be very careful when selecting a fertilizer for grapes. Most fertilizers have quite a bit of nitrogen and this causes the grapes to grow too much canopy (leaves) and you will spend the whole time cutting this back, not to mention poor fruit production.

So many other factors come into play and you have to mentioned your climate, soil type, age of plants, water availability, type of grape (eating, wine, raisin) etc etc. So I cannot give you a proper answer.

Go to your local nursery and find a fertilizer suited for fruit production. Make sure it is for grapes. I usually apply a foliar spray to my plants every second year, with manure applied to soil every year.

You'd want to use a fertilizer higher in Phosphorus and Potassium (2nd and 3rd numbers on the fertilizer package) to promote flowers and fruit production. Follow the directions on the label (for fruit trees).

I hope that this helps
