I have a problem with ants in my courgette plants . . .?

Question:. . . how can I safely remove them? Thanks.

Answers:
Like David G says, the ants are looking for greenfly (aphids), so check your plants if there are perhaps some under the leaves near the growing tip. Get rid of them, and the ants should go. The other alternative, could be that the ants are after the sweet secretions in the flowers of the plant. They, in this case, would perhaps be helping with the pollination. In the roots, they could be driven away by constant watering, and they will move off to a drier part. You can even encourage them to do so by putting a brick or similar nearby where they can move to.

put your pants by your plants then it will be ants in your pants
there are special powders you can buy that kill ants...sprinkle some around your courgette plants (avoiding the courgette fruits themselves) and this should work.
Get a spritzer type bottle and fill it with water and a dash of liquid soap(dish washing). about 1 or 2 teaspoons of soap. basically make a soapy solution and spray it on the plants.
ant powder
We had ants in a food cupboard. We sprinkled talcum powder where they ran and they have dissapeared. I don't know if this will work on soil. Ants are blind and the feeder ants follow a trail (I think) and if they go back to the nest with an unnatural smell they are rejected from the nest and they die. Hope this helps.
I can't think why you would want to. Some ants are beneficial predators. Most won't bother low sugar low protein plants like zukes unless they need water, which shouldn't be your case. If on the other hand you have "fire ants" in your pants as suggested, you have my permission to "nuke" them with the chemicals of your choice, but don't make any zucchini bread for me. RScott
the ants will not be harming the corgette plants they are most likely to be looking for green fly ect. the only problem you may face is the ants have a nest under the plants. if this is the case then the problem will be the roots of the plants have been disturbed by the loose soil caused by the ants nast.if this has happened then use an ant powder if not leave the ants alone as they do more good than harm.
