According to Purdue, Indiana (similar climage to PA), you plant pea before Mid May. (most of Indiana is Area C, A is farthest south, D is northwest) Check out Purdue's other pages on this topic. http://www.hort.purdue.edu/ext/garden_pu...

ok. First we start with When is your last frost date? I checked your hardiness zone. (See ZONE: in sources below.) Looks like Western PA is zones 5a, 5b, 6a. That is similar to me in NH.
Next, first frost date. Peas can probably take a light frost but you basically want them producing before the frost date. (See FROST: in sources.) In zone 5 that's September 30 - October 30. I usually say Oct 15 in Southern NH.
Third, how long do snap peas take from planting to harvest? Depends on variety. I looked at Pinetree Garden Seeds site. (See PEAS: in sources.) There were 3, days to harvest were 48, 62, and 65.
Finally, counting back from Oct 15th ... that's 15 days in OCT, 30 in SEPT = 45... so planting would be from Aug 12th to Aug 26th, in my garden and possibly yours, depending on the variety.
