Should my daylillies be fully blooming by now?
Question:I planted them a bit late, mid to late June, but only a couple of them have a few flowers on them. Is it because I planted them late, or because it is their first year?
Answers:
Yes & Yes. ;D Also , the late-flowering varieties haven't bloomed yet . Any of them have "L" in the description? They are about unkillable , so don't worry . Just keep them watered . They'll be fine .

Might fairly be considered horticultural porn. ( Lots of Hemero-lust) Relax! - Daylily = Hemerocallis ;D
both.mine are past prime
Mine are mostly at the height of their bloom. My orange wild ones are in full bloom as are all the purples and the deep yellow called Buttered Popcorn (which is an incredible daylily... huge, grows fast, blooms amazingly, can be seen from down the street). My Hyperion is just starting to bloom, and my red ones are just budded up.
The one I planted this year only put up a couple stalks. I'd say yours might be settling in too, or might be late varieties.
There are early, mid and late varieties of daylilies and there is no telling which you have. I live in NH and have nearly 60 different types of hybrid daylilies and still have about 10 that aren't in bloom yet. Of course the ones you plant late will take longer and sometimes they don't bloom the first year at all. It depends if they were in pots or bare roots when you planted them also. Make sure they are not planted too deep, that will also prevent them from blooming. I have one slow grower that took two years to develop and is absolutely fabulous this year. PS I just planted two new ones this week and two a couple weeks ago and they will just bloom late.
