When is the best time to warter your grass?

Question:I dont want to over warter my grass but its been soo dry and hot it needs extra warter when is it best while the sun is out or late night?

Answers:
There may be some dew on the grass in the morning; I would wait until evening, just before the sun goes down. As a bonus, most towns charge less for water used on off-hours, like at night, so you'll save yourself some cash too!

In the morning
Best time is early morning. Water once a week, one inch each time. This helps to develop deep roots. If you water often, a little at a time, grass will develop shallow roots, which will lead to trouble in dry conditions.
Late in the afternoon or early in the morning. You don't want to do it at night, as this may promote mold and fungus growth. And, you don't want to do it in the middle of the day, as this results in excessive evaporation and insufficient watering.

Also, do a good soak (about 15 minutes with a sprinkler system) a couple times a week compared to a light sprinkling every day. This promotes deep root growth, which makes the grass more drought tolerant.
The best time to water grass is deffinetly in early morning. Some think watering at nite is better but truth is it saturates you're soil causing you're grass to be more prone to fungal dieases that could kill or slow the growth of grass or alter shape and color. not sure where you live, but I would water in the evenings when the sun is starting to go down, especially if you don't have much shade. :)
A general rule of thumb is to give it 1" to 1 1/4" once a week, but there's no set formula. Every lawn in every state and climate has different needs.

Water thoroughly and deeply, so your below-surface moisture reaches between 6 and 12 inches down so your grass roots reach deep down in the ground. Use a shovel now and then to check it. Watering less often, but good and deep is much better for your lawn than to water a little bit at a time but more often.

A good healthy lawn with a deep root system will require less maintenance and less water.

The best time to water is early morning, before the sun gets too hot.

The second-best time is evening, but try not to water for at least an hour before sundown.

Hot sun will evaporate much of your water before it has a chance to soak in, so you pay the higher water bill without getting all the benefits of it.

Watering too late in the evening will leave your grass wet all night long, making it more susceptible to things like mildew and fungi.
Yeah I'd warter it in da mawin'.
