In Runescape, how do you dig up tree roots?

You can only dig up roots from a tree you have grown, or paid a farmer to grow for you. So, lets say you plant an acorn and pay the farmer's fee to have him watch and nuture the oak tree for you. When it is full grown, come back to the tree and use a wc axe to cut it down. After you cut it down, you'll be left with just the stump. Use the spade on the stump and you'll dig up the tree roots and the tree patch will be clear.
