Question:1) My lawn is full of weeds in some areas. How do I kill them and get the grass to grow nicer?

2) Is there a way to level out your land without a bob cat?

3) How do you make grass grow in small patches where it has died?

4) how do you keep the quack grass out of your yard if it is sourounding it?

Thank you!

Answers:
Find out what kind of weeds you have. If it's crab grass use a pre emergent before the 2nd week in March. Weeds thrive in the spring when the rains come so have your weed controls put down at that time. If you use a pre emergent on grasses that are undesirable it will also apply to any desirable grass in your lawn. So re-seed in the fall before put down pre emergents the next spring and fertilize.

Most lawn care companies will have a 8 step program to help recover the lawn. You can use fill dirt instead of a Bobcat to level the lawn and re-seed to re-establish that area.

i can help but need to run...i did yhis so i can find ya later to answer.
You sound like you have land similar to mine. I have an almost 2acre property that is basically part of a mountain. The soil is hard, rocky, and its very difficult to grow anything except weeds(which seem to thrive by just looking at them). Some say that you should not try to overcome nature, but instead work with it. Some of my neighbors have opted to create very beautiful rock gardens, and a few raised flower beds using very hardy native plants that require little attention, or great soil. I have opted to go the expensive route. I had an excavator regrade and level the land as best he could, ( I think it is easier & less expensive to use a bobcat, then to try and even things out by adding soil without leveling. In the process he dug up the multitude of weeds. I then applied a potion involving vinegar and other substances to kill any remaining weeds.( I can give you the ingredients later if you e-mail me). I then applied weed block fabric in some areas & recycled non-dyed newspaper in others to futher kill off weeds, ( I ran out of money, work with what you have). The re-cycled paper will degrade into the soil, & as long as organic dyes are used it is harmless. That was last year. This year, my soil is softer, but still poor, but few if any weeds. I am now scheduling to have 6-8" of topsoil placed on all areas that I want to have grass, or flowers. I will plant my flowers in raised flower beds.I use only natural remedies to control disease, pests (insect or animal).I have already developed a few flower beds on my own using store bought soil, and eveything looks great. For patchy areas of dead grass, you need to check & make sure there is no disease, or pests that are causing the damage first, & if that is the case, deal with that issue, before digging up that small area, applying one of the many commercial preparations of soil mixed with seed & feritilizer to regrow the area. I think 1 product is called patch master. Or you just replace area with good soil, seed, & fertilizer, & water daily till it grows. This may work for you. I hope it helps.I am not a professional, but I do have lots of tips on growing plants, and controlling problems if you need it. Good luck
