Is there a type of tree that has white bark like a birch but is not a birch tree?

Question:I want to plant a white tree but my son is allergic to birch trees.

Answers:
There are a few you could use but the Platanus acerifolia (sycamore or plane tree) will grow to have a beautiful, smooth, white surface. The tree will eventually be very large, so ensure you have enough space for it.

Crepe Myrtles are my favorite. The bark peels in the fall and the plants just get prettier with age.
