What is the average price of non-screened topsoil, and gravel per yd. & truckload?
Question:I am in The Pocono Mountains of PA, specifically Monroe County. My land is extremely rocky,& has poor quality soil. I am trying to start a very large project, involving a overlay of 6-8 inches of topsoil over 1/2 acre approx. Re-seed a portion, and build a patio, and 6-8 flower beds strategically placed.Raised flower beds are what we are using.Presently I have been getting so many disparities in pricing that I am at a standstill. I would appreciate any recommendations of a reliable place to buy, and info on usual & customary pricing. And P.S. I am asking for price per truckload, because some of the venders I have asked provide the soil this way. I have no idea, how big the truck carrier box is.
Answers:
Here in eastern SD, black dirt is averaging $12 per yard or $7-$8 per ton.
Most large dump trucks hold 15-18 tons. I usually get a full load for around $130.00
Gravel in our area is about $6 per ton or $9 per yard.
Hope that's helpful
22 - 30 / yd in Tucson
It can really vary from place to place. It all depends on availability and how far they have to truck it to your location. For 12-15 yds of dirt in se mn it is about $140. Gravel really varies so I can't even give you a good estimate. Most of the cost is actually delivery costs.
