What tools do I need to cut down bamboo trees in my yard?
Question:The bamboo trees are about 5 feet tall and 1 1/2 inches in diameter. I don't want them to grow back
Answers:
Use a saw to cut about 6 inches from the ground. Get an electric drill and drill several holes into the trunk, at least 1 one half inch thick, then pour table salt into the holes.
Voila, gone soon. (Took me almost 20 years to figure out how to get rid of these persistent tree weeds, no clue what they are/)
The bamboo will likely never leave your yard. Bamboo is a very persistent plant. To cut the canes you should get a bamboo saw. You could also use some loppers and cut the canes off at the base.
You will need one chain saw to cut them down with, then a bottle of Round Up or what they call Glyphosate and give it a good drink and you will never see it again. Must pour abit of glyphosate over ever stem you cut down and you have to do all of them. Cheers and good luck.
chainsaw works great
use a chain saw or a saw...
the best way will be dig it out..
Almost any saw will cut Bamboo, that is not the problem, the hard part is getting rid of the "roots". Unless you remove EVERY bit, you will have another crop in a relatively short time. I spent 12 years chopping and digging, Round Up, and God knows how many other "Guaranteed" chemicals, ... in the end the Bamboo stayed, I moved.
You dont need any.....just put an ad on eBay set the bid to start @ a dollar with the buyer to dig it up & remove it.
ie no tools no work & u make some money :-)
You will probably have to dig it up because if you only cut them down they'll still come back and spread more every year.
It is about to kill out bamboo. A friend has some and digs it up and sells it in clumps to people that do want it as a "fenceing" or a wind-break.If yours are only 5 foot, they are a short variety or young. Though she gets them by the roots, they just come back. Aren't they pretty though ?
Mark hs' answer sounds like he knows what he talking about, but i say cut it down to size and then use some kind of root killer. i've had a couple yr. of schooling and there are several diffirent ways that what i say. but i've never had a bamboo problem. my main suggestion to you is call your local agricultural ext. dept. they answer most of my questions but it's still fun this way. good luck.
