What's best to remove sap from horse?
Question:I don't want to use peanut butter or oil if possible since he'll become a fly trap. Any other suggestions? Vinegar perhaps?
One side of his neck is total sap from itching on a pinon (pine tree). If he wasn't the most gorgeous pefect intelligent little Arab in the universe (in my eyes), I'd be upset.

Try WD40 and no; that isn't a joke. It actually works and is not petroleum based so it will not irritate the skin. You need something oily to remove the pitch so if you are leery about the use of wd40, try baby oil.
"WD40 - use to put a shine on manes/tails in show ring, also good for getting out burrs and pine sap."
The things one learns on YA! LOL!
eucalyptus oil works and it should not become a fly trap
