How poisonous are tomatoe plants??

Question:i know tomatoes are in the night shade family and are poisonous to some degree. but how toxic are they? any threat when tying plants in the garden with bare hands?

Answers:
Tomatoes and potatoes are in the nightshade family. The vines are poisonous for human consumption. Handling the vines is not dangerous unless you have sensitive skin, I sometimes get a rash-like condition from handling the leaves and stems.
The fact that chickens can eat the leaves or stems does not mean it's safe for humans! Birds can eat berries that would be dangerous for humans-I'm not sure why that is, but evidence of animals and birds safely eating something is not a reliable indicator of safety for human consumption.

No threat from tomatoe plants when touching them
They are not poisonous.
yes they are part of the nightshade family, but you will not be poisoned by handling them unless you put your hands in your mouth repeatedly ! just make sure you wash up after handling them. You would have to actually eat the plant itself to suffer any damage.
its not the plant you have to worry about, but you really need to watch out for the tomatoes. When its a full moon the tomatoes will detach and search for human flesh to feed on.
No way are they dangerous.

I worked on a tomato farm for almost a year and had no ill effects. We pruned and picked with bare hands all day long.
They only can hurt you if you take internally. Also their is no e in tomato.Remember Dan Quale.
I have 48 Tomatoes plants 8 variety's we eat the fruit & my chickens are doing a real good job of eating the leaves & stems...I would say they aren't harmful.
Also all of them were planted with bare hands, no problem
They are in the nightshade family but so are papayas and mangos...Tomatoes are perfectly safe, no toxins etc..the leaves might hurt you if you ate a bunch of them but this isn't pheasable...
not at all
i am a gardener and tomatoes are my favorite plants
Tomato plants can't harm you. If your a smoker wash your hands before handling them because they're very sensitive to nicotine.
