Are moths bad for your yard we walk through and moths are everywhere they go in the garage .?
Question:they are also in the house .is there something i can do to eliminate the problem.we have them under control in the house with fly strips .this is our second year with this problem
Answers:
Yes, they can cause damage to the landscape trees and shrubs. Think about it. All forms of moths and butterfly's originate from larval and pupal stages before becoming adult insects, also called metamorphosis. The larval stage (worm, grub, or caterpillar) of moths, needs to feed on something in order to grow and pupate before becoming an adult. What they feed on is vegetation in your yard, such as trees and shrubs as well as lawn roots and grasses. A few that come to mind are the Gypsy Moth, Coddling Moth, and Pine Tip Moth. Most damage is minuscule, however, when in large populations of the larval stage, can cause significant damage to landscapes.. The only thing for you to do if you have a problem, is to treat your landscape trees and shrubs as well as lawn, with an insecticide spray program, starting in spring and going through to the fall. Spray every 4 weeks or so in the spring..This will eliminate any larval stages of the moth and in a years time will remove them from your landscape. Hope this answers your question.. Good Luck!

Other than being an annoyance, they are harmless to the yard.
