Why not google your search to get the information you need but remember the more information you give the better the result or you can end up with two much information.
Your location is the first important thing to think about.
From that you will be able to choose plants & design a garden suitable for where you are.
The library will have fabulous gardening books to look at including general design ideas for you to incorporate into your place.
