When should I open the pool ?
Question:I wan't to open my pool but I don't want pollen to mess it up or turn it green so when does the pollen calm down so thats there's not alot to turn the pool green?
Answers:
Maintain your chlorine levels at 3-5ppm and you won't have to worry about pollen overwhelming the chlorine and letting it get algae.
Proper application of higher levels of chlorine are beneficial to the pool and still well below any levels that cause discomfort to bathers.
Why not open it and just put a cover over it. You still have to clean it and everything to keep up the maintenence. But covers do work wonders. Like those solar covers. Keeps leaves and most junk out of it.
right now because its very hot n it is not gona freeze
we have swimming pool - and never saw it turned green. All houses that we lived in since i was 4 - have pools. We never have pool people to maintain it either - just my dad. He has this pool kit which he use to test the chlorine of the pool. Every weekend on summer and never on winter or fall or spring. Right now, the pool is uncovered for 3 months now. I saw him adding some salt in it (2 bags of salt - the pool is kind of big) because he don't want too much chemicals in the water. We have a pool sweep that runs everyday for 2 hours and it is connected with pool vaccum. The water in the pool is always blue and inviting. When summer is gone, he will cover it again. Oh, ahhhmmm, he doesn't let my mother plant anything that flowers around the pool for landscape. The flowering plants are very short and they made sure it will not
hurt the pool. And added to that, he has this scooper that he used if we are in the pool and there are some floater on the water, sometimes whoever wants to do it - can scoop the floating whatever it is, is on top. Hope this will give you idea if not solve your problem 100%.
The "pool" isnt turning green because of the pollen, its because of "algae"!!
What I did, was on the "outflow" , I put some copper pennies in the strainer, and leet the water run over it, and that should stop a lot of algae from growing...(copper kills algae, and if you run the water over the pennies, minute particles come off, enough, hopefully to keep it either gone or done).
Pollen has nothing to do with algae growth! Algae spores are always present in the air, and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it in the air.
I wish you well...

I opened my pool Mermorial day weekend...now's the time to do. Put clarifier and algaecide in it to clear it up if it is green.
