Rooting a cutting off of a apple tree?

Question:My husband and I took a cutting off of our apple tree and are hoping that it will root and we can plant it. Has anyone else done this? Will it produce fruit?
Thanks for all your help and input!

Answers:
it will produce fruit in about three to four years! keep it in a greenhouse type environment to help it root! u can't let it dry out at all!

It will produce fruit in about 3 to 4 years the only way to root it is eater with hormonal rooting powder for softwood cutings or rooting gel.
