Tomato Plant Pests!?

Question:I'm growing tomatoes in Japan. There is a whitish froth on the stalk w/ eggs (I think) and it's literally eating the stem in half. What kind of bug is this and how do I combat it?

Answers:
you have tomato worms with eggs, go to a hardware and tell them you need a spray for tomato worms, u spray and it will proctect your plants

It sounds like downy mildew\or powdery mildew.Use Shield on powdery mildew, and Tomato spray on downy mildew.. Both products control quite a large range of pests. Good Luck!
this sounds like it is being affected by a tomatoe stem borer.
it usually attacks the stems about 20cm up the stem. the larvea of this moth usually tunnel through the stem.there isnt really any control for this pest because usually the damage has been done before you can treat it .
