Whose responsibility is it to cut the tree down?
Question:Last night lighting hit the neighbors’ tree and split it in half and half of it is in our yard. It is still connected to the truck. Whose responsibility is it to cut down, ours or the neighbors’; even though technically it is still connected to the truck?

Great question!
neighbors
Neighbors,
Its their tree.
The owner of the tree is determined by where the trunk is.
Because the tree is on their property it is their responsibility to cut it down... I just hope they don't make you wait and they clean it up quick.
It is your neighbors responsibility.
If a tree falls over a property line, the tree's owner (where it was before it fell) is responsible for removal, but is NOT responsible for any property damage. but it does not sound like there is any property damage in this case anyway.
The neighbors. Definately. If it damaged anything on your property, they are responsible for paying for it as well. Would probably be covered by their HO insurance.
It is the responsibility of the person who owns the land the tree is on.
First of all, it is a trunk not a truck. Secondly, it is your neighbors responsibility.
it's your neighbors tree on their land, so your neighbor should.
well I guess you both are the victim of unforeseen circumstances, so I think you should both be helping each other like a nice neighbor.
all i know is that if its not on your property its not your responsibility, so yes the responsibility is upon the neighbors and not you or your family
It is the neighbors responsbility.
Neighbor's responsible
The tree and all reapirs belong to your neighbor. Unless he/she tries to claim "Act of God" If you want it removed from your yard call your (if it's yours) homeowners insurance and tell them they will remove it and collect from the neighbors.
My tree landed on neighbors fence/we have the same insurance company I bought the the items to be repaired and he repaired them. High wind "Act of God"
Well, technically it's your neighbors tree. But neighbors can be tricky. I think if you met them half way it might help. Talk to them, see if they have any plans about taking it down and out of your yard.
My sister had a neighbor that insisted that she take care of all the leaves in his yard because it came from "her" tree. People are odd.
