Are battery operated weed eaters worthwhile? How long can i expect them to run without recharging?

I have a Black and Decker and I am happy with it. I have a large yard and the charge (I guess I have never timed it) lasts all around my big house, large garden, garage and propane tanks, and about 40 trees. By this time, I'm ready for a beer! The green light says when it's charged, and then I do on the other side of my driveway, barn, outbuildings, and about 20 trees. I am happy with it, but the boyfriend says it's wimpy and has a big one with poly blades to cut down brush and clean out the old grove. Mine cost $40 and in my opinion, well worth it, and it's on it's 3rd year.
