Have you ever been accosted by a cheeky robin demanding food?

Question:Brave little chaps aren't they?

Answers:
I have a family of robins in my garden at present - 2 youngsters with mum and dad - they have been nesting in the ivy which climbs over a little wooden archway leading to my veg patch. The parents frequently join me when I'm digging out the weeds and , several times, have landed on my spade, halting the digging process.

But, only a few days ago, one of the adults (can't distinguish between the mum and dad), actually flew down and landed on my brimmed gardening hat, staying for a good 30secs before hopping down to the newly turned soil. I knew what it was and just stood still until it hopped off.

I'm hoping that ,eventually, they will trust me eough to feed from the hand. I think it's an honour and pleasure to have them in the garden and am hoping the babies stick around too. They're great!

They'll do anything for a worm or two.
No but I did see a squirrel sitting on top of a telephone pole the other day :-)
No I haven't, but yes they are.

(They visit my bird table and always take the mealworms first.)
Whilst finishing our dessert after a barbeque, a Robin dived down to our table and pinched a beakful of cream sponge cake!
no but my nan used to have a squirrel that tapped on her patio window when it wanted feeding and wouldnt stop until she took it some monkey nuts out :)
3 summers running when I was a kid in Hampshire in the early sixties.

It used to sit in the handle of my Mothers fork and chirp at us in a fairly demanding tone.

Cheeky little f****r!
Yea it woz my ex . he didnt just demand food ... didnt leave alot when he flew off either!
All the time, the cheeky blighter comes into the house and sits on the kitchen top, I love it to bits. I also have blackbirds come in, they are lovely.
I love Robins!
At my old house back home I used to have one come and get quite demanding, until he realised that when I go outside, it's to water, and he'd get plenty of food, LOL. It got to a point where I'd step outside and he'd be right there waiting for me, he got quite tame too, and would let me get very close to him. That was soooo cool!
Yes, the males tend to be more confident than the females. I've had a male for 3 years who comes on my hand, settles and eats. Perhaps you could try taming yours a bit more?

Good luck! Rob
Frequently - ours stamps about on our caravan roof until we put some seed and bread out for him. On other occassions he sits on the caravan steps singing his little heart out to draw attention to himself. He then follows you to the bird table and is on there before you have finished putting food on it. Wonderful.
What love!
Yes. One sits in the garden every time I go digging and hops in when ever it sees something edible. One of the best thing about digging the vegetable plot.
