What could this be in the mulch?

Question:It is pale yellow on the outside and brown on the inside. Is is mushy and has a 'foam' like appearance. It is in radom places and along the edge of the house.

Answers:
It's a slime mold and harmless. See link below.

It is a fungus that is growing from the wood the mulch was made from. It won't hurt anything but it does look disgusting. If it is bothering you just take it out or it will dry up by it's self.
that's right.. it's fungus. The heat and moisture of late spring/early summer makes the fungus "flower", and yes.. that's the flower you're seeing. This will dry up and will spore as soon as it dries up. If you don't like having the "flowers" in your mulch, take a shovel and remove them. Put 'em in a plastic bag and throw them away.

the fungus is there to break down the dead plant material (the mulch) and turn it back into earth. It's actually good for your soil to have it in there..

so there's nothing wrong with your mulch.. it's just nature breaking it down in it's own way.. circle of life and all that.. :)
It's a fungus of some type - don't concern yourself on the mulch, though be more concerned if it's on some part of your house's construction elements.
It is fugus from the wood, it will be fine to keep it there
