Mango pot plant dropping its leaves - leaves start to dry at the tips and fall off...?
Question:What am I doing wrong? Please post as detailed instructions on how to keep a pot mango plant alive and well.
What soil does it need, What kind of a pot, what temperatures, when and how much to water it, to spray the leaves or not, how to prepare it for winter indoors, should I keep it outdoors during the summer or not (I live in Mediterranean, but winters can be below zero).
I raised mine from a seed, not bought it in a store.
Thank you!

I would start by repotting your plant. Put it in a container a few inches larger than the plant. Spread some rocks or large gravel in the bottom of pot for good drainage. I find Miracle Soil or a very good fertizlizer based potting soil good. Fill up with soil. Then water thoroughly until water comes slightly through the pot. Let the plant completely dry before watering again, this will depend on where the plant is located (sun or light sun) and where you are located in the U.S. Spray with a mist of warm water every few days. Don't saturate. Good luck.
The roots are starting to rot. It is starting to outgrow the pot, and your pot doesn't have good drainage. so, therefore,it is starting to die.
The best thing you can do is transplant it into the ground, (if you have any ground) and leave it alone, but if your area frosts, you will need a sheltered area to plant it in and then it might still be OK, until you get a freak winter and then expect it to die.
For tropical plants you really need a huge greenhouse like the old steam houses the english built... That, or move to a tropical region like Africa. Next time grow olives and grapes, and Juniper.. The rest of us envy you these.
