How do I maintain the grass in my backyard?

Question:Two weeks ago, I laid down new grass sod on my backyard. I regularly watered it and so far it is green and it looks like the roots have started to develop. What are the things that I should do to keep my backyard green and keep the weeds away?

Answers:
This year for the first time my wife and I laid down corn gluten. It's all natural and when applied correctly we have had minimal dandelions and our grass looks much more lush. It's pretty cheap and I'm not a huge fan of putting chemicals on the lawn where my kids will run and play. Good Luck!

fertilize and mow it on regular basis
Mow 3" height, 1 " of water per week and regular feedings as per the growers recommendations.
Tough question! For now, just keep it watered every 3 days or so. In the fall, fertilize. For next year, Remember EMIL. Easter-Fertilize and crabgrass control. Memorial day-Fertilize and weed control. Independence day-Fertilize and insect control. Labor day-Fertilize. I wouldn't use any weed controls just yet. let the sod develop. If you get weeds, take care of them next year. Weed control interferes with the grass development. LET IT GROW!! Regards-Bob
