I was going to say "fernettes" because I thought it sounded both cute and humorous, but it appears other had the same idea :'(
according to the botanical book of flora and fauna 3 from 1987 apendix vv1 they are called fernie wernies! hello
baby ferns of course.. they are only spores until they start to grow, then they are baby ferns. Eventually they grow up and have baby ferns of their own. And so the circle of life continues.
If you whant to "look" smart, first
try being smart and do some research!
You will not appear smart unless you put
some work into it and acually know what
you are talking about! Keep in mind you
may answer the initial question, but another
could follow! By the way, I am not retarded.
(the correct spelling!)and I do know what
they are called.
I wish some of you would go play in another catagory. There ARE people who would like their question answered, and some who hate having to sit and read these made up question to impress their friends. Don't know of many who will think a question about baby ferns will make you look smarter! Anyway, have a nice day!!
Geez coach, give the kids a break, they may be having fun at your expense, but I bet they will all learn from this answer. Baby ferns are called "prothallus", plural is "prothalli", it might not sound as cute as the other answers, but does have a sexual slant. The truth ain't cute in this instance, impress away! RScott
They start as a spore. Then they become a gametophyte, which is too small to be seen with the naked eye. Then they become a sporophyte which grows into the mature fern. So I guess a baby fern is a sporophyte.
