Need help with Poppy like plant selection for Zone 8a.?

Question:My wife loves poppys. I think its too late in the season to get any blooms though. Could anyone suggest an alternate that see might enjoy? Im zone 8a. Thanks in advance.

Answers:
One of my favorite flowers is the anemone. There are many different varieties, and it very closely resembles a poppy, depending on which you get. It's a little rock-like bulb, and although they're fairly early bloomers, if you soak them before you plant them, they'll certainly come up now. You don't have to dig up the bulbs, so they're low-maintenance perennials!

Should still have time for the many types of annual poppies
